Tears & Cheers

Scott had me watch his thumb as he ever so slightly moved it up and down. As I smiled and look at him his eyes had watered up and about to drop a tear. Scott then showed me how he could ever so slightly open and close his fingers.
Even though the movement is slight, it is an obstacle that Scott has overcome. When I watch Scott work so hard to regain the function in his hands, it makes me realize another thing we take for granted.
Keep up the good work, baby.

Adventures in Babysitting

I phoned Skylar last night and Blake answered the phone. I asked him what Skylar was doing and he said she was in time out. When I asked him why, he said because she keeps telling me what she is going to do. Blake told her if she didn't knock it off he was going to put her in time out. Skylar's response was whatever, so Blake put her in time out. I told him to have Skylar call me when she was out.
A few minutes later the phone rang. Skylar wanted me to pick her up because Uncle Blake was giving her attitude and a head ache. She said, he wouldn't let her pick what she wanted to eat. Blake was giving her choices but all she wanted was cereal. Blake's girlfriend said you don't eat cereal for dinner. I asked Skylar if I could speak to Blake. I told him we always eat cereal for dinner. He said, that is what I told Amanda. What did Syklar end up having for dinner ? CEREAL.
Where is it written cereal is only for break fest? I like cereal anytime of the day and we eat it anytime of the day. When the kids were little at least twice a year I would let them have dessert before dinner, that is the best part of dinner.
Hopefully, Skylar was a source of good birth control for the two kids.

Liquid Sunshine

Chocolate easter bunnies are wrapped with colorful ribbon, the plastic carrots are filled with starburst jelly beans (my favorite) 241 plasic eggs filled and ready for hiding, 5 dozen eggs ready to be dyed & easter dinner ready to be prepared.
Last year my niece Kylee was over for Easter so I decided to do a flashlight easter egg hunt. It was a huge hit and Kylee has counted down for a year for this years easter egg hunt. Thanks to the Florida weather, we decided to celebrate next weekend. It is suppose to start raining todat at 1:00 and continue through sunrise service ( another one of my favorites)
Scott is really sick from chemo Friday, he was vomitting last night. We took a vote and decided it would be better to have oue easter celebration next weekend.
I figure I am a week ahead now.

Two Steps Forward

four steps back. I woke up this morning a decided to plant some flowers for spring. After I planted and watered my flowers I decided to fix one of the sprinkler heads. I thought I should just move the line out a bit. There were so many palm tree roots that I decided to chop them with the small hand axe. I didn't know under that sprinkler line was another sprinkler line so needless to say I split the pipe. The water started running so I asked Scott where the shut off valve was. The neighbor, Scott and I started looking and digging. We found one shut off valve but, that was the wrong one. We found another shut off valve and that one came off in Ricky's hand. The water was still running, I managed to cut the pipe through the running water. I headed to Lowe's soaked and thought I could find quick fix. Only after another 45 min. it still wasn't working. My neighbors yard was beginning to flood from all the water. I headed back to Lowes more wet than the time before and very frustrated for different supplies. I got back home and another hour and still didn't fix the problem. I did manage to fix the water pipe so the water wouldn't flood my neighbors yard and I left a message for the sprinkler man. My short yard day turned into a nightmare and I am completely sunburned, a horriable headache, water flowing in my yard. UGH.....Scott's been in bed all weekend from chemo : ( No matter how much I tried to get done today - I got nowhere.

Playdate

Scott, Skylar and I had a play date for Saturday. We were going to see the Easter Bunny, do some shopping, see Horton Hears A Who and go for ice cream. Scott had chemo on Friday, so when Skylar called I asked her if we could do everything Sunday because Pappy wasn't feeling well. She said pappy can go another time. So I jumped up, got dressed and headed to pick her up.

When we arrived at the mall and she saw the Easter Bunny she informed me that she didn't think it was a good idea to have her picture made. Fortunately there were no children there and the bunny tried to get her to take a picture by pretending that he had dropped his egg and needed Skylar to pick it up. She picked up the egg and without moving a step reached as far as she could to give the bunny back his egg. Then the bunny pretended he was crying because Skylar wouldn't take a picture with him. Skylar was a little smarter than the rabbit, she didn't see any tears and his face wasn't wet. We then convinced her not to sit on his lap just to stand beside him. With inching , inch by inch and trying to not get to close we got this great shot. When I was waiting on her pictures she ran up and hugged the bunny. Of course I didn't have my camera ready and he tried to get her to hug him again. She turned and looked at him and said I already hugged you. I asked her to hug him once more so I could take a picture. She was reluctant but she did.

We then headed to The Children's Place to shop for my niece Briar's birthday. Skylar found the cutest little dress and head band. The dress was so cute that we went to see if they had the same dress in 18 months and they did. I told Skylar the dress was so pretty that I think we should have her picture made and she agreed. We went to The Picture Place and I remembered from the past years that they had a real bunny. I asked if they had their bunny and they said yes. They pulled the white background and went to get the bunny. Skylar's face lit up. Between smiles she kept asking if she could take him home. Maybe the Easter Bunny will bring her one.

We then went to see Horton Hears A Who, only Skylar didn't want to see that movie, she wanted to see a scary movie, so she only lasted about 20 min. Then we headed to Ben and Jerry's she loved the giant bean bags. When she ordered her chocolate ice cream in a chocolate dipped with sprinkle ice cream cone topped off with more sprinkles her eyes were bigger than her stomach. We headed back to the mall to pick up her pictures. After we left there we thought we would call pappy and tell him we were driving by Dell's to see if he wanted a Strawberry shake. When we got there Skylar said she loves vanilla shakes so she got a vanilla shake and pappy got a strawberry. In the way home I called Brandi and Tom to ask them to pick up Skylar. I was exhausted. Skylar climbed up in bed and kissed Scott on the forehead so he could wake up to show him her pictures. She only got to spend a short time with him and then her mommy and daddy picked her up. I couldn't decide which of the pictures I liked more - so I got them all. She's so cute.

Confused

about Blake's room. Should I start packing up Blake's room now rather than when he is not there? Should I leave it the same or redecorate? It is now the colors desert sand and army green. I think it would make me sad to pass by and look at it everyday. I am trying to decide what is better for he and I . I know it will be tough to pack if I wait until he leaves but, if I do it before will he feel unwanted? He will not be able to take his things right away so I was going to pack it all away in boxes and place the boxes in his closet.

A Bridal Shower, A Wedding And A Hang Over

I hosted a bridal shower for Michelle Friday night. Thanks so much to my mom who was a huge help. Our theme was Victoria's Secret and I ordered food from Island Pasta.
Saturday was crazy, picking up flowers, hair at 11:30, pizza and then getting ready for the ceremony. Skylar was the cutest flower girl ever. She could not wait to put on her dress and head to the ball. I was a little worried what she would do because she was a little terror all day but, when it came for her to walk she was an absolute angel. The only problem we had is that she wanted to cling to Michelle (the bride) because they matched, they were twins. The bride was beautiful and you couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. Everything was perfect. I made friends with wonderful people. I drank a little well, alot of wine which left me with a horrible hang over on Sunday. I was exhausted from the shower and the wedding that I spent the day in my PJ's.
I received two very special gift's this weekend. Scott presented me with a beautiful journey necklace, for all we've done, all we do and for our future. It was a very emotional moment. Since Mike passed so rapidly, it terrifies me. It makes you realize how deadly this disease is and how many times can you fight it.
I also received a journey necklace from Michelle for our journey together as friends. The necklace she gave me is heart shaped, also very beautiful. Neither of them knew the other had gotten me a journey necklace. Just goes to show how much alike they are.
I will post salon and shower pictures soon.

Heaven Gained An Angel

Mike, the friend, I blogged about on February 15 has lost his fight. Mike passed away this morning. It is very devastating for Scott and I to loose such a good friend. His health declined so rapidly. I received a heart wrenching e-mail from ML his wife, she willed Scott and I all Mike's determination to fight and all Mike's prayers directed to us. Even in Mike's final day, she was thinking of us. Our visit to the hospital meant the world. I only hope if ever the time were to come, I would be as strong. Our prayers are with his family.

Take Two Asprin And Call Me In The Morning

Scott and I went to my mom's Thursday after work. My mom, my sister and I laid carpet. I woke up Friday morning I forgot my clothes and had a horrible headache. It turned out to be a migraine. On the way to chemo Scott had to pull over because I was so sick. I slept in the truck in my P.J.'s while Scott had chemo. Scott's nurse came down to the car to check on me, I was sleeping so she let me sleep :) At first I thought Scott sent her down but, he said no she did it on her own - which was very sweet. I thought Scott had called off his chemo but it seems that I had just slept for 4 hours. When Scott got back in the truck he had 2 scripts that Dr. Nick had written for me. Thanks to Scott who was determined to get us home, we made it in record time. We both went to bed and it's were we've both have stayed.
